What triggers people to take their own lives...It can't be just the pressure of studies and expectations...This poor student lost his life in AKU...Only God knows the true motive behind his suicide...May his soul rest in peace...Ameen!

Food for thought...
“Love yourself, flirt with your understanding, romance with dreams, get engaged with simplicity, marry genuineness, divorce the ego. That is a good life."
“Memories are very confusing... They make you laugh when you remember the time you cried together but makes you cry when you remember the time you laughed together”
“The moment you think of giving up, think of a reason why you held so long...Do or die is an old saying...Do it before you die is the new one..."

Quote of the day...
"Cowardice asks the question, "Is it safe?" Expediency asks the question, "Is it politic?" And Vanity comes along and asks the question, "Is it popular?" But Conscience asks the question "Is it right?" And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must do it because Conscience tells him it is right.”

Song of the day: No such thing by John Mayer
"Welcome to the real world", she said to me
Condescendingly
Take a seat
Take your life
Plot it out in black and white
Well I never lived the dreams of the prom kings
And the drama queens
I'd like to think the best of me
Is still hiding
Up my sleeve
They love to tell you
Stay inside the lines
But something's better
On the other side
I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you've got to rise above
So the good boys and girls take the so called right track
Faded white hats
Grabbing credits
Maybe transfers
They read all the books but they can't find the answers
And all of our parents
They're getting older
I wonder if they've wished for anything better
While in their memories
Tiny tragedies
They love to tell you
Stay inside the lines
But something's better
On the other side
I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you got to rise above
I am invincible
As long as I'm alive
I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the
Top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you've got to rise above
I just can't wait til my 10 year reunion
I'm gonna bust down the double doors
And when I stand on these tables before you
You will know what all this time was for
-John Mayer
I Wish To Live Deliberately ...
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, to discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practice resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms, and, if it proved to be mean, why then to get the whole and genuine meanness of it, and publish its meanness to the world; or if it were sublime, to know it by experience, and to be able to give a true account of it in my next excursion.

Ozymandias...
http://tribune.com.pk/story/7950/at-least-we-are-not-dubai/
The article got me to read this poem by Shelley:
Ozymandias
I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed.
And on the pedestal these words appear:
`My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings:
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away".

Some Politics: Labour Principle
For those of you undecided (even after tonight’s televised debate) perhaps this will help….
It's a slow day in Birmingham. The sun is beating down, and the streets are deserted. Times are tough, everybody is in debt, and everybody lives on credit.....
On this particular day a rich tourist from down south is driving through town. He stops at the hotel and lays a £100 on the desk saying he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one to spend the night.
As soon as the man walks upstairs, the owner grabs the money and runs next door to pay his debt to the butcher...
The butcher takes the £100 and runs down the street to retire his debt to the pig farmer.
The pig farmer takes the £100 and heads off to pay his bill at the supplier of feed and fuel..
The guy at the Farmer's Co-op takes the £100 and runs to pay his debt to the local prostitute, who has also been facing hard times and has had to offer her "services" on credit.
The hooker rushes to the hotel and pays off her room bill with the hotel owner.
The hotel proprietor then places the £100 back on the counter so the rich traveller will not suspect anything.
At that moment the traveller comes down the stairs, picks up the £100, states that the rooms are not satisfactory, pockets the money, and leaves town.
No one produced anything. No one earned anything. However, the whole town is now out of debt and now looks to the future with a lot more optimism.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how the British government are conducting business today.

Only Time...song with a deep meaning
Who can say where the road goes,
Where the day flows?
Only time...
And who can say if your love grows,
As your heart chose?
Only time...
(interlude)
dee dah day, dee dah day, dee dah day
dee dah doe day doe, dee doe day doe
Who can say why your heart sighs,
As your love flies?
Only time...
And who can say why your heart cries,
When your love lies?
Only time...
(interlude)
dee dah day, dee dah day, dee dah day
dee dah doe day doe, dee doe day doe
Who can say when the roads meet,
That love might be,
In your heart.
And who can say when the day sleeps,
If the night keeps all your heart?
Night keeps all your heart...
(long interlude)
dee dah dah dah
dee dah dah dah
dee dah dah dah
dee dah dah dah
Who can say if your love grows,
As your heart chose?
Only time...
And who can say where the road goes,
Where the day flows?
Only time...
Who knows?
Only time...
Who knows?
Only time...

Thank you God...
I dreamt that I went to Heaven and an angel was showing me around. We walked side-by-side inside a large workroom filled with angels.
My angel guide stopped in front of the first section and said, 'This Is the Receiving Section. Here, all petitions to God said in prayer are Received.'
I looked around in this area, and it was terribly busy with so many angels sorting out petitions written on voluminous paper sheets and scraps from people all over the world.
Then we moved on down a long corridor until we reached the second section.
The angel then said to me, 'This is the Packaging and Delivery Section. Here, the graces and blessings the people asked for are processed and delivered to the living persons who asked for them.'
I noticed again how busy it was there. There were many angels working hard at that station, since so many blessings had been requested and were being packaged for delivery to Earth
Finally at the farthest end of the long corridor we stopped at the Door of a very small station To my great surprise, only one angel was Seated there, idly doing nothing. 'This is the Acknowledgment Section,' My angel friend quietly admitted to me. He seemed embarrassed 'How Is it that there is no work going on here?' I asked.
'So sad,' the angel sighed. 'After people receive the blessings that they asked For, very few send back acknowledgments .'
'How does one acknowledge God's blessings?' I asked.
'Simple,' the angel answered. Just say, 'Thank you, God.'
'What blessings should they acknowledge?' I asked.
'If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy .'
'And if you get this on your own computer, you are part of the 1% in the world who has that opportunity.'
Also ......
' If you woke up this morning with more health than illness ... You are more blessed than the many who will not survive this day .'
'If you have never experienced the fear in battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation .. You are ahead of 700 million people in the world.'
'If you can be without the fear of harassment, arrest, torture or death you are envied by, more blessed than, three billion people
In the world .'
'If your parents are still alive and still married ...you are very rare .'
'If you can hold your head up and smile, you are not the norm, you're unique to all those in doubt and despair.'
If you can read this message, you just received a double blessing in that someone was thinking of you as very special and you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world who cannot read at all.
Have a good day, count your blessings, and if you want, pass this along to remind everyone else how blessed we all are.

One more quote....
NEVER CRY FOR ANY RELATION IN LIFE BECAUSE FOR THE ONE WHOM YOU CRY DOES NOT DESERVE YOUR TEARS AND THE ONE WHO DESERVES WILL NEVER LET YOU CRY..
Maturity...
Maturity is the ability to control anger and settle differences without violence or destruction. Maturity is patience.
It is the willingness to pass up immediate pleasure in favor of the long-term gain.
Maturity is perseverance, the ability to sweat out a project or a situation in spite of heavy opposition and discouraging set-backs. Maturity is the capacity to face unpleasantness and frustration, discomfort and defeat, without complaint or collapse.
Maturity is humility. It is being big enough to say, "I was wrong." And, when right, the mature person need not experience the satisfaction of saying, "I told you so."
Maturity is the ability to make a decision and stand by it. The immature spend their lives exploring endless possibilities; then they do nothing.
Maturity means dependability, keeping one's word, coming through in a crisis. The immature are masters of the alibi. They are the confused and the disorganized. Their lives are a maze of broken promises, former friends, unfinished business, and good intentions that somehow never materialize.
Maturity is the art of living in peace with that which we cannot change, the courage to change that which should be changed -- and the wisdom to know the difference.

7. Never change your originality for the sake of others, because no one can play your role better than you. So be yourself, because whatever you are, YOU are the best.
8. Baby mosquito came back after 1st time flying. His dad asked him "How do you feel?" He replied "It was wonderful, everyone was clapping for me!" Now that’s what I call Positive Attitude.
Advise...
1 Don't use time or words carelessly. Neither can be retrieved.
2. Don't be afraid to learn. Knowledge is weightless, a treasure you can carry easily.
3. Don't run through life so fast that you forget not only where you've been, but also where you are going.
4. Don't shut love out of your life by saying it's impossible to find. The quickest way to receive love is to give; the fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly, and the best way to keep love is to give it wings.
5. Don't be afraid to encounter risk. It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.
6. Don't be afraid to admit you are less than perfect. It is this fragile thread that binds us together.
7. Don't give up when you still have something to give. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.
8. Don't let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past or future. By living our life one day at a time, you live ALL the days of your life.
9. Don't take for granted the closest things to your heart. Cling to them as you would your life, for without them life is meaningless.
10. Don't set your goals by what other people deem important. Only you know what is best for you.
11. Don't undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others. It is because we are different that each of us is special.

Song of the day: When the stars go blue...
There are two versions to this song...
Random rhyme
Smile while you're makin' it
Laugh while you're takin' it
Even though you're fakin' it
Nobody's gonna know
Laugh while you're takin' it
Even though you're fakin' it
Nobody's gonna know

Don't copy if you can't paste...
A popular motivational speaker was entertaining his audience. He Said: "The best years of my life were spent in the arms of a woman who wasn't my wife!”. The audience was in silence and shock. The speaker added: "And that woman was my mother!"
Laughter and applause.
A week later, a top manager trained by the motivational speaker tried to crack this very effective joke at home.
He was a bit foggy after a drink. He said loudly to his wife who was preparing dinner, "The greatest years of my life were spent in the arms of a woman who was not my wife!"
The wife went; "ah!" with shock and rage.
Standing there for 20 seconds trying to recall the second half of the joke, the manager finally blurted out"...and I can't remember who she was!"
By the time the manager regained his consciousness, he was on a hospital bed nursing burns from boiling water
Moral of the story: Don't copy if you can't paste!

Critics...
I've always noticed that critics i.e. people who adopt criticism as a profession are generally not so competent themselves in that field e.g. most of the columnist who write about sports and comment/criticize players might have never stepped onto a cricket/football field themselves...They for one cannot even fathom how or what it feels like to play the game, to be under so much pressure, yet they never take that into account and criticize just for the sake of criticism, just because its their job...Same is the case with film and movie critics...Their ratings and views are in most cases contrary to the public...Infact quite a few of the critically acclaimed movies are boring crap to say the least...Its one thing to criticize someone blatantly just for the heck of it...Infact its the easier route...Critics must realize that their criticism can be considered credible and constructive only when they themselves can prove to be worthy enough in that field...If not, its better that they just zip up OR if they consider themselves experts in that field, then perhaps they can show it to the rest of the world and prove it!!!

And so it was...
Its unbelievable how life can be so different within the span of a few hours, so much so that it feels dizzy...From so much hustle, bustle and rola-rappa, even if momentarily, to pin drop silence and solitude...From frantic, crazy, tense driving on Mall Road, Peshawar Road, Islamabad Highway to hearing the same robotic aunty announcing train arrivals on a certain platform heading to a certain destination ending with -ham, -ton, -don,-shire etc etc...From 33 degrees Celsius at the time of departure in Isloo to 3 degrees Celsius here. From cotton t-shirts to trench coats...From calm, clear blue skies to overcast grey cloudy ones...It really is mind-numbing...And to add to the blues, having to come back and give a wrist breaking 2.5 hour long mock exam, that too while suffering from chronic food poisoning suffered at the very last moment before departure from the motherland...It can't get any crazier than this...However, if there is one thing that I know that 20 or so years from now (God willing/life permitting), when I look back at the pictures and close my eyes to imagine the look of surprise and happiness in the eyes of my parents and siblings, it will all be worthwhile, Inshallah!
Sometimes, I wonder what the "real world" is...I read in a friends blog this inexplicable urge and desire to be in the real world, perhaps, as opposed to what would be a temporary phase in a locality or place that is transitional. I feel that the boundary between the real and the temporary is just becoming too vague for me...I for one cannot put my foot down and say that perhaps currently I'm in the real world...Infact, just this trip, it its brevity, confounded my perception of the real world...Perhaps I'm in that stage of life where I'm just not sure...Infact now it feels nothing is real, its all just little tranitionary stages of my existence as if I'm just one of the random moving particles in the famous Brownian motion just going with the flow, being knocked here and there by some invisible force unsure of my ultimate endpoint...I guess its just destiny or God's will but sometimes you tend to feel helpless and the best thing that you can do at such moments is to hold fast to the three F's: Faith, Family and Friends (I know I know food too,but I'm trying to be deep and philosphical), the centre of gravity holding everything together...The rest just seems like a front row seat to one hell of an epic plot unfolding right infront of your eyes...I say bring in the bag of pop corns and a bottle of diet coke and enjoy the show :)

The next 72 hours...
In the coming 72 hours, i'll be in-air onflight for almost 17 hours or around 24 hours if you add in the airport waiting, transit time...It was such an impulse decision to get the ticket for just 2-3 days and I got the ticket at such an inflated cost, almost a fortune in PKR terms but I hope and pray its going to be worth it when I surprise my folks by arriving just before the engagement ceremony of my sis...What I fear is that the trip will be short...What if I don't feel like coming back and become heavy hearted...Again, its all going to feel like a dream and I don't know if I'd even get the time to jet lag :S
