Revelations of the third kind...

Every visit back home is a revelation. You learn that your baby sister is no longer a baby and hates being treated as one. You find out that your brother and sister have learned to drive and longer let you behind the steering wheel coz they think you've become too westernized as a driver i.e. your reflexes are just too slow to deal with the rash driving in Pakistan so much so that you become a safety hazard due to your over cautiousness. You learn that the sister you always had fears about going awry somehow, somehow knows how to organize a super awesome crazy mock dholki. To add insult to injury she somehow knows how to copy every bollywood, michael jackson and other crazy dance moves. If thats not enough to make you dizzy your brother drags you in the middle of the night to a dodgy looking sheesha cafe because he's having "the craving". And to think we always thought life in sleepy dead isloo was snail paced. I'm having massive cultural shocks already. Plus EVERYTHING is so freaking expensive, twice as expensive as it used to be in my last visit. While the number of beggers has doubled in all the shopping areas and road crossings, somehow, the number of super luxury cars has increased by an alarming extent as well. Whenever you goto a mosque to pray, in the back of your mind, you remember the newsflash from the night before when terrorists massacred an entire jamaat. Its crazy!
