To God we belong and to Him is our Return...

Ah! Life is so cruel sometimes. While we are all enjoying holidays here, we got the tragic news that one of our fav couple (jays) lost their baby through a mis-carriage. I still can't believe it. I remember the days when my flatmate used to speculate that they were expecting and I'd joke off and mock him on the fact that he had some sort of ultrasound sonagram sixth sence in-built in his system.

It all happened while all of us were here and Bhamsville was empty except for the couples. As my flatmate told me it got so bad that the Dr's had to ask my friend whether he wanted to save the child or the mother. Such a senceless question! Why would someone say ANYTHING ELSE unless its part of an evil plot in a Bollywood flick. It happened due to the fact that my friends wife got sick, her BP over ran and it was damaging or about to damage the baby's heart. Life is unfair. The couple was really looking forward to the baby. It was still relatively early on, just the fifth month and my friend told the whole news to my flatmate while sobbing. His wife was in an even worse condition. My flatmate said that she had even shown him baby clothes and stuff she had already started buying. Such is life. Man proposes, God disposes. All our best laid plans can be vetoed over by Divine Will.

When I was writing this, I researched a bit online and found this link which is about the "Islamic approach to miscarriage": http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=116112843046&topic=15952

There were a few Hadith from this site which I thought were quite pertinent:

Narrated from Abu Moosa al-Ash’ari (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Alaah be upon him) said:

“When the child of a person dies, Allah says to His angels: ‘You have taken the soul of the child of My slave?’

They say: ‘Yes.’

He says: ‘You have taken the apple of his eye?’

They say: ‘Yes.’

He says: ‘What did My slave say?’

They say: ‘He praised You and said innaa Lillaahi wa innaa ilayhi raaji’oon.’

And Allah says: ‘Build for My slave a house in Paradise, and call it the house of praise.’”

Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 1021; classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi.

Al-Nawawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

The death of one of one's children is a screen against the Fire, and the same applies to miscarriage, and Allah knows best.

Al-Majmoo’, 5/287; see also Haashiyat Ibn ‘Aabideen, 2/228

It was narrated from Mu’aadh ibn Jabal that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“By the One in Whose hand is my soul, the miscarried foetus will drag his mother by his umbilical cord to Paradise, if she (was patient and) sought reward (for her loss).” Narrated by Ibn Maajah, 1609; classed as da’eef by al-Nawawi in al-Khulaasah (2/1066) and al-Boosayri, but classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Ibn Maajah.

May God grant them the patience to endure this trial and may they come out from this stronger than they went in. To God we belong and to Him is our Return...
